Types of counters

1. If classified according to whether the triggers in the counter flip simultaneously, counters can be divided into synchronous counters and asynchronous counters.

2. If classified according to the increase or decrease of numbers during the counting process, counters can be divided into addition counters, subtraction counters, and reversible counters. The counter that continuously increases with the clock signal is called an addition counter, the counter that continuously decreases is called a subtraction counter, and the counter that can be increased or decreased is called a reversible counter.

There are also many classifications that are not listed one by one, but the most commonly used one is the first classification, because this classification can make people understand at a glance what triggering method this counter is, which is convenient for designers to design circuits.

In addition, counters are often divided into binary counters, decimal counters, and so on according to their counting base
